MODEL UNITED NATIONS

“To the young people I say, you are a gift to your communities and indeed the world.” Wangari Maathai, Kenyan Nobel Peace laureate

At UWC Maastricht‘s Model United Nations Conference (MASSMUN), in addition to delivering the closing ceremony’s keynote message, I ran a workshop called “The Missing 85%”.

Delegates were given an AI-generated policy brief — and then asked to find the voices that were left out. Indigenous communities. Stateless people. Women farmers who grow most of the world’s food but appear nowhere in the data.

They used their empathy and intellect to come up with innovative ways to ensure these voices were heard.

They understood that AI can give us speed and structured data. But it frequently ignores the voices of those that aren’t thoroughly represented on digital platforms.

That requires insightful, globally representative leadership with a sincere desire to make the world a better place.

Leadership clearly demonstrated by the MASSMUN participants.

I came ready to inspire and motivate.

I left inspired and hopeful for the future of humanity.
