My oldest child, Rachel, just earned a Masters in “Marriage and Family Therapy” – and I couldn’t be prouder!
This degree is a testament to resilience, identity, and purpose.
Over the past several years Rae faced many personal and family challenges that could’ve easily derailed the journey. But Rae stayed the course. Rae did the inner work. Rae prepared, and when the opportunity came, stepped fully into it.
Watching Rae accomplish this goal has reminded me of two key truths I’ve been reflecting on:

To every young person—especially those from underrepresented communities—know this:
Your background does not limit your future.
Own your story.
Invest in your growth.
When life gets hard, lean into your identity, not away from it.
