Leadership starts with SELF-leadership. 💡
Since the beginning of this calendar year, I’ve been on a journey, not just to improve how I work, but how I live. Because the kind of leader I strive to be resilient, consistent, emotionally intelligent – starts with how I care for my body, mind, and relationships. 🧠💪🏽🫀
Here are the 7 core habits I’ve been focused on and what they’re teaching me about sustainable, human-centered leadership:
1️⃣ Relationship building and connection 🤝
Real leadership happens in relationships. Whether it’s deepening personal bonds or staying intentional with colleagues and mentors—connection isn’t a luxury. It’s leadership fuel.
2️⃣ Eating to fuel, not just fill 🥑🍗🥦
Lean proteins, leafy greens, healthy fats (hello avocado and MCT oil), nuts, seeds—and a hard pass on processed sugar. Starches like rice and bread are occasional. What I eat shapes my energy, clarity, and mood.
3️⃣ Strength and stamina 🏋🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️
Peter Attia’s #OutliveBook taught me this: intense, consistent movement is the best investment in longevity. Strength training and cardio build more than muscles—they build resilience. (I HIGHLY recommend reading Outlive, following the very practical suggestions in that book will change your life!)
4️⃣ Sleep as strategy 😴🛌
I treat quality sleep like a leadership meeting with my future self. Better sleep = sharper thinking, more patience, and better decisions.
5️⃣ Hydration 💧
Still a work in progress. But when I get it right, I feel the difference: more focus, more energy, less fatigue. It’s the simplest form of self-care that impacts everything.
6️⃣ Meditation 🧘🏽♀️
Even 5 minutes daily helps me regulate emotions, lower stress, and stay grounded. I’m not perfect with it—but when I do it, I lead more calmly and clearly.
7️⃣ Journaling ✍🏽📓
Putting pen to paper clears mental clutter, boosts creativity, and helps process what’s beneath the surface. It’s not about writing perfectly—just showing up for your thoughts.
